Basic but too slow to be useful

This is a tiny display. It shows the direction of the light, tachometer, speedometer and clock. All useful information. That's where the pluses end: - The speedometer and touch poll the ECU once a second. maybe even every 1.5s. It's so heavily lagged that it's really useless for city speeds; At best, you can use it for highway driving where your road speed and engine RPM don't change much or rapidly. But everyone has cruise control (although many people choose not to use it), meaning that if you need a consistent speed on the road, you already have something that does. Bringing it a little closer to the field of view isn't very beneficial. The cardinal points are so small that they cannot be read. The letters are half the size of the bottom row in the eye diagram. For a device designed to improve security by bringing critical information closer to the center of your field of view, it just doesn't make sense to turn on devices that can't be read because they're so small. It shows the DC voltage of the vehicle. during the first 20 seconds after takeoff. This is not a problem; it's just useless. Unless you're trying to diagnose your car's charging system. But there are other tools that will do that for you. I don't need or want to see the real-time voltage of the car every time I turn it on. I can't imagine who would do that. - The rev counter shows only 500 rpm. This, coupled with an unacceptable delay in updating data from the ECU, means that by the time a bar appears, your engine may already be spinning 2000rpm faster or slower before the next reading is shown . Although there are relatively few options for this. Device type and this one works (mine at least) - I have to give it a very bad rating just because of the very slow refresh rate. The delay is so significant that the rev counter and speedometer are simply useless when accelerating/decelerating, ie when driving around town; and when driving on the Autobahn, the whole concept is pretty much useless anyway. There are much better alternatives for the same price.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Good but not great
