The last time I had an aquarium, the Dynaflo filter was nothing more than an empty plastic container with a built-in motor that turned a floating impeller with a magnet. It was innovative technology for its time. The downside was that you would have to buy filter floss and activated carbon separately and flush them before installation. You didn't change the filter as often as you should because it was a sloppy process. Enter a modern design and now changing the filter is as easy as running water through the cartridge, removing the old one and installing the new one. Presto! I change the filter in my small 5 gallon aquarium every 2-3 weeks and the fish are doing fine. Very impressed with its ability to capture particles in the water. This is the price for the comfort it offers you.
