Review on 🚲 KMC Z410 Single Speed Bicycle Chain, 1/2 x 1/8-Inch, 112 Links by Justin Newport

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you are changing a chain for the first time, be sure to bring a chain breaking tool!

Cheapest 1/8" bike chain! If you are unsure of the width of your current chain, use a ruler to measure the distance between the inner plate sets of your chain. The usual chain width is 1/8" or 3/32". Typically, purpose built single speed/fixed gear bikes use 1/8 chains, while single speed bikes converted from geared/derailleur bikes use a 3/32 chain. Using a 3/32 chain on cogs designed to fit a wider 1/8 chain results in very stiff operation This KMC chain came with a master link and instructions for installation using pliers As the chain is quite long you'll still need a chain breaking tool to remove the extra links. You can find them at Revain for $10.I recommend spending a little more ($20) on a bike multi-tool that uses allen wrenches and the like nd contains a chain breaker. ) or use pliers to depress the spring clip. The benefit of using a master link to break your chain (versus a chain cutting tool) is that links reconnected with a chain breaker are stiffer.
