Overall this laptop is a mid-range laptop. It's relatively light, but the specs are underwhelming and overpriced for what you get. This laptop is about the same size as most laptops you can get on the market today, but not Ultrabooks. I'd say the color of the design tries to mimic a MacBook, but it's not aluminum quality. It has a good i3 processor and I would say it's a cheap processor. The downside is that RAM is up to 16GB, which is above the average most users currently use (8GB is the bare minimum right now). For everyday use like web browsing and the like, it works as intended. In terms of battery life, it's not that strong in terms of battery life. It really only lasts around three to four hours like most on a full charge. The fan is a bit noisy during normal use. It's only slightly noticeable during normal web surfing. I'm a bit disappointed that the charging port and headphone jack look VERY similar and are the same size. So if you plug the AC power connector into the wrong port, you'll lose the headphone jack. So be careful and remember where the headphone jack is located and where the power connector is fitted. A port is also a bit of a hassle when changing chargers. After booting up, the laptop boots up fairly quickly and only has 256GB, which is plenty if you only use it for general computing or a home computer. Installation is quite easy and requires no driver installation. The best part is that there are no viruses to slow down your computer. The laptop also has a 15.6-inch screen and a resolution of only 1920 x 1080. The screen has a normal brightness, the quality is normal. I wouldn't say it's retina quality, but it does the job. It still retains the traditional two USB ports, so you don't need to buy an adapter for this laptop, and it also has a Type-C (non-Thunderbolt) port. The picture is a bit confusing and shows USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, but I can confirm that both are regular USB 3.0 ports. The laptop can be tilted backwards for a better view, but not fully retracted. I don't like the finish of the laptop where the palm rest is located as it looks nice with a light silver but will fade over time with prolonged use. You will get this mottled silver color. The buttons are good but not the best. I'm not a fan of printing them as it seems a bit cheaper. There is also no backlight in this laptop. The outer casing of this Surface is very easy to scratch (seems to be an issue with all this stuff) so I'd recommend getting a laptop case for it. The trackpad has a fingerprint scanner. All is well. Honestly, I'm having a hard time reading my fingerprint even after some programming times. The trackpad works quite well. It's responsive and feels fluid when moved, but can be distracting when you get to the fingerprint reader as it's raised. The webcam is terrible. When using it gives a feeling of impetuosity. Image quality is generally not very smooth. You can put the webcam cover on it. The microphone is okay, but I would say it picks up too much ambient noise so the person on the other end of the line hears everything. I had to help the person on the other end adjust the volume so they could hear me without blowing their ears. The sound quality is okay. The sound is hoarse and static when I turn the volume to maximum. I'm afraid the speakers might be damaged or something. The laptop has a 3.5 port for reconnecting the headphone/microphone. Be careful not to confuse it with the power connector. It has built-in dual-band WiFi and no speed/connectivity issues. The nice thing is that it actually has an Ethernet port, so you can connect directly without an adapter. However, you must open the Ethernet port. Total charge time varies, but as far as I can tell it can take up to four hours to charge a laptop to 100%. It has a decent startup that takes less than fifteen seconds and very little malware, which is nice. The speaker system, which emits an unpleasant crackling sound, could be improved. The heat from this device is normal and reasonable. It heats up and the fan is also a bit noisy. The processor is i3, the junior processor. As for video games, he can't play many games. You could probably play some retro games, but not too crazy. I ran Minecraft on it and it was a bit choppy. The processing speed is suitable for everyday use and works for my needs. There is an HDMI port so you can connect it to an external display. Overall this laptop is a little disappointing and the price is WAY overpriced compared to the components you get. You get more RAM but a low-end processor. You can get the i5 and similar specs for the same price as this laptop. The laptop gets a little warm and the battery life is not very good. Lower specs like a small drive and processor don't make this thing more than $600. For this price you get something better. Besides, it is easy to be damaged because the power port and the aux port are the same size. The fingerprint reader isn't very good either.
