Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Lifegard Aquatics Digital Temperature Alert by Carrie Snethen

Revainrating 2 out of 5

large display, poor water resistance

I received 4 of these for a tank kit. The good: a huge display that I can read from across the room, either on a stand or on the side of the tank, and it doesn't use expensive AAA watch batteries. The hanging option even works on rougher tanks without glass as you mount a large plate on top of the tank which then inserts into a slot on the thermometer. The suction cups would not work. It also has air temperature and alarm options, although I wasn't interested in that. Bad things: In less than 2 months, 2 of them stopped working. And upon inspection you can see why: there are several areas where the circuitry can be exposed to humid air/water spray. The air sensor grille is on top, the battery compartment has just a tab door instead of screws and standoffs, and finally if you look under the edge of the suspension instead of a solid back there's a slot open to circuitry. It also doesn't have a Celsius option, which I would have liked. Recommendation: only buy it if you are willing to forego an indoor air sensor and a vacuum bag or sandwich bag for protection. I'll try that with the others to see if I can keep them alive. I hope I can read them then.
