This pail has a lid. It is made of plastic and has a button to open. I bought these because I really needed a handy place to store cloth diapers until they were washed, to keep odors out and to prevent baby from playing with dirty diapers. It's big enough for at least about 20 diapers that my son has been through. 2 days and more. . can probably easily store up to 30 predictions. . .but the main feature I wanted was for the lid to stay closed and prevent the baby from playing with dirty diapers. My 8 month old figured out how to open a bucket in 2 days and it became endless "fun" for him in the bathroom. .He tapped it with his hand, and the "easy-open" lid popped open. . I ended up returning it and going back to using the old plain bucket as the lid was almost non-functional for its intended purpose.
