I have never used the original Japanese product, but when I saw that Korea made this product I jumped at it. I'm so glad I did! It writes smoothly, leaves no marks on fingers, feels more durable than regular chalk, and rubs off clean. My colleagues started talking about this new "miracle crayon" when I left used crayons in the classroom. Now we are talking about buying suitcases for the entire department. I've enjoyed using it so much that I even bought a box of colored chalk, although I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I write a lot for my classes and I estimate that I use half a stick for a fifty minute class, which works out to about 144 class hours per occasion. Now I understand why everyone was hoarding the original.
