I have replaced the Kenmore filters with these and see an immediate improvement. You don't have to install them, they are ready to use. Aluminum adds good reinforcement. A less dense material is not as easily blocked by minerals. Moisture wicking properties seem to be as good as the original, but with the extra airflow I fill my water bottles more often and the humidity is higher. With any filter, the filter pores eventually stop working. Old filters do not absorb water regardless of the air flow. Same goes for these. But you can replace them much more often for the same price. Kenmore filters are good, work well and wear well. Same goes for these. They work great right out of the box. Parts ordered for next year.
