I have replaced the Kenmore filters with these and see an immediate improvement. You don't have to install them, they are ready to use. Aluminum adds good reinforcement. A less dense material is not as easily blocked by minerals. Moisture wicking properties seem to be as good as the original, but with the extra airflow I fill my water bottles more often and the humidity is higher.
