Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Durable Sharpening Whetstone: Flatting-Resistant Sharpener for Long-Lasting Sharpening by Matt Heringer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Some of the components pictured are not included. Real sharpness is outstanding.

Does not include the 'Knife Sharpener' and large brown pad shown in the 'Leather Strap Polish' section of the illustration. The kit also includes only one cut-resistant glove. For this reason it only gets 3 stars, although in general it is well made, efficient and pleasant to use. They just can't promise there are parts in the kit and they won't see them. The base is beautifully finished and adheres very well to both the work surface and the stones. The stones themselves are completely flat and feel like serious, high quality, truly premium pieces. The overall feel is impressively solid and well presented. The sling feels pretty cheap and the leather looks like "leather". Haven't used slings before so can't make an exact comparison but they hold the polish and are easy to tighten during use. The angle guide for planes and chisels is strong and holds the blades well. A narrow roll doesn't add much stability to the blade, so you'll need at least a little effort to keep it straight. The knife angle guide works well with blades that are straight on the back (parallel to the cutting edge) and no longer than 6 inches. Longer or curved knives require some strategic placement and frequent adjustments. It works out! It just takes some effort to keep it intact. Overall this is a good kit and represents good value for money. I would recommend it but it doesn't include everything that is said to be for sale.
