So I wasn't sure. then i tried it. For some measuring tasks, this far exceeds the usefulness of a measuring tape. For example, I needed to measure the distance from the ground to the bottom of an elevated water tank. I can't slide my tape measure straight up 84 feet. It's pretty hot in there, so I don't want to climb onto the band tank and hope the wind doesn't blow it away on the way down. So the laser was the ideal solution. A fairly accurate calculation of the area of the room is required. This gives the answer without having to go down the whole hallway. The same applies to corridors. You need to know how long your truck-trailer combination is. This is good because only 1 person is needed. accurate enough for most construction work. I am content and happy
