Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficiently Remove Cranks with Park Tool's Compact Crank Puller by Josh Ulrich

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Disassembled on first use

I've used many pullers in my life whether car, bike or anything else. So, knowing I had only one chance in the afternoon to remove the square cone cranks without a major headache, I spent the extra money on a branded puller. Despite all the precautions - fully unscrew the mandrel, thread it by hand so as not to cross the threads, push it down before pulling the lever, it STILL broke. The tool tore the inside of the aluminum clean! I assume that heat treating the threaded portion of this particular assembly would be poor heat treating, but it's certainly frustrating when you're paying extra money for a tool to get a job done and the tool fails the first time you use it. I was able to remove the now unusable handle with a BB bolt, BFH and a piece of wood, there is no reason the tool could fail with such a light pull.
