An essential tool for cycling

This is an essential tool for crank removal. However, as in most cases, there is no single standard, there is always something that does not work properly. In this case, the two spacers/pushers that came with it were too small and actually protruded into the crank. My biggest concern was that it would mess up the themes, but luckily they were fine. I had to push the spacer out from the other side with a rod. There is a great video by Pak on YouTube on how to use them.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Nothing here

On first use the screw's internal threads were so rough that I had to use anti-seize compound, but that didn't solve my problem. I'm an experienced mechanic, I didn't put much effort into that thin thread, but it almost disappeared off the bolt anyway. I have arranged a return and will order again. I hope this is a one-time problem (due to positive reviews) and the next one will be with me for a long time. Until I have a new one I'll leave a one star review here.

Pros
  • Great design

Looks like it will last for years

I used this to remove the pedal grip from my Lifecore assault bike. You need an adjustable wrench to use this tool. You cannot remove the pedal grip from a bicycle or exercise bike without this tool. This is definitely a quality tool. It looks like it will last for years. If you don't want to use an adjustable wrench, you'll need to purchase the Park Tool CCP-22. Also a quality tool. I've used both but prefer the CCP-22. Whichever you use, you will be happy with the result. If this review…

Don't waste time pulling the handle without this tool.

I have an old stem and bearing set on my old MTB that I couldn't get the cranks off of. After trying several "tool-less" methods, I broke down and bought a parking tool. It seems like the real deal as it comes in Park Tool branded packaging. It literally took me two minutes to remove the connecting rods with this tool. Some reviews say it pulls threads out of aluminum cranks. I have aluminum and had no problems with it. Make sure you back out the center bolt all the way and screw the outer case

good tool. for sports

A well made tool that I have used several times. Good quality parking aid. I used this puller to remove the stubborn grip on my 2015 Ghost hybrid. Aluminum triple crank on tapered bottom bracket. I had to clean the internal threads on the crank very well with a can of WD40 and a can of carburetor cleaner to get the tool fully into the crank. After cranking it up full and tightening/tightening the disassembly bolt on the tool, the crank didn't move. I Hold a heavy hammer head on one side of the…

This detached from my cranks

I have a small collection of bikes, some of which are showing their age and are starting to need bottom bracket service. There are a few cheaper tools out there, but I'm glad I went with Park Tool's quality block. The cranks on my 20-year-old Trek hybrid are really stuck there. I restore cars as a hobby so I have a collection of gear pullers and arm pullers but none of them were up to the job mainly due to the size and spacing. This tool did its job. I wouldn't say they came off easily, it…

Disassembled on first use

I've used many pullers in my life whether car, bike or anything else. So, knowing I had only one chance in the afternoon to remove the square cone cranks without a major headache, I spent the extra money on a branded puller. Despite all the precautions - fully unscrew the mandrel, thread it by hand so as not to cross the threads, push it down before pulling the lever, it STILL broke. The tool tore the inside of the aluminum clean! I assume that heat treating the threaded portion of this…
