I needed to remove old petrified paper gasket material from the intake ports of an aluminum engine. The scraping took forever and the chemicals left no dents. I turned to this. I'm glad I bought the box! I thought I would need one or two but ended up using eight pads for a small 4 cylinder engine. I literally pierced her to the hilt. The bristles were falling off (put on PPE!) and there was yellow dust everywhere. But they worked. I spent 30 minutes with them and it took me 2 hours to scrape off the last bits I couldn't get over the spikes. I bet it would take me 10 hours to create a block without the help of 3M. So the price was worth it. You need to buy a special adapter for a standard 1/4" straight grinder if you want to use them. It is definitely not included. Oh, and the block finish is perfect. , no cutting, no gouging, no scraping I'd be wary of something critical like a deck, but on something less perfect like inlet/outlet rails they're soft enough for you.
