Must Remove Speedometer - Update after 6 months, Don't buy

At first glance this appears to be an easy install; remove three screws, install bracket and three new screws. This is not the case. It is near impossible to install with the speedometer attached as there is no space behind it to insert a tool. I have a lot of miniature tools and didn't have what's needed to install the bracket this way. Without instructions to guide, I looked carefully at the speedometer and notice two torx screws beneath the unit. I took a chance and removed these two-torx #20 screws, pulled the unit straight toward me and it came right out. I then had access to the three mounting screws.Update after 6 months of use - don't buy this thing. I am continuously tightening this and it just won't stay in place. The phone moves in every direction. Mini Coopers have a pretty tight suspension that make the ride firm and bumpy; this holder is not strong enough to keep your phone in a viewable position given the bumpiness of the ride. I frequently readjust the phone to keep it viewable. It is frustrating and you will be trying to tighten the magnetic disc very often.

Pros
  • Hands free phone and device mount
Cons
  • Could potentially scratch or damage phone surface
