Great product so far

I was afraid of buying an air intake for my 2012 jk jeep after reading many conflicting reviews but after a few weeks of research I decided to buy this AIRAID air intake buy and test it. for themselves. My expectations for the air intake weren't very high due to the lack of support on the Jeep forums, but overall I'm really impressed. I chose this intake system because I was concerned about stalling the engine due to the "open" intake and the simple fact that it resembled a standard intake working from the same air source. So it came in multiple parts with a hardware package and instructions and looked pretty easy to install. I looked on YouTube to get a rough idea of the installation as I don't have a lathe which helped. Installation took about 2 hours, step by step I found the right tools that were minimal. The hardest part was carefully removing the air filter, which other installers found fragile and problematic, and cutting the regular air duct (a fine-toothed hacksaw is best). The only part of the system I didn't like was the installation of a standard channel on this system which is not very suitable. The mount for this is relatively square and when the stock duct was bolted on there was room in the corners due to the roundness of the duct. I'll probably end up sealing it with some sort of silicone to make it airtight. After installation I dropped my average MPGs and went for a test ride and was immediately impressed with the throttle response and elimination of lag that I had previously, it really picked up and went. After about a week of modest and normal driving I noticed my mpg had gone from 14.5 to about 16-16.5, not much but better than nothing. Overall I would buy this product again and look forward to driving 1600 miles to really see those MPG gains. 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport 35 "Toyo Mud Terrains and 3" suspension
