Without a doubt the best grinder I have ever owned, this is my sixth. First, as an engineer, I really value good design, both in terms of looks and features. The bearings in the mill are the smoothest I've ever used. Between the bearings, the stainless steel burrs, and the handle, which sits just over 5 inches from the center of the grinder to the center of the wood handle (longer handle, better leverage, easier to grind), grinding is almost effortless. Second, the aluminum body is very strong, not flimsy like other coffee grinders. Thanks to the smooth-running grinder, the grinder is also the quietest manual coffee grinder I have ever used. Since I always get up first and make coffee, silence is worth its weight in gold. Third, this is by far the fastest grinder I've ever used: It grinds in half the time of my old Handground grinder. I haven't measured it, but it's definitely less than 30 seconds with a nearly full bunker compared to just over a minute and a half for Handground. This is setting 3 on the JX versus setting 2 on the Handground for the Aeropress, which visually gives about the same grind. Finally, the grind itself looks very consistent. The case of a star is that there is a little bit of static electricity when you grind it. When I first used it when I unscrewed the bottom tank there was a lot of coffee stuck to both sides of the tank and the bottom of the grinder and was a little messy when I unscrewed it. So what I do now is after the sanding is done, while holding the sander in my left hand, I give it a few taps with the end of my right hand from opposite sides on it. When I open it all the coffee is at the bottom of the recipient cup. Also, I had to wait for JX to be back in stock and Ann from 1ZPresso was very helpful in answering my questions and keeping me updated on the progress, many thanks to her. To me, a big cup or three in the morning is life's simple pleasure, and the right tools are an integral part of that. I would recommend this grinder to anyone who feels the same way. If you've had other grinders, especially in the $10-$20 range, I'm sure you'll agree after the first use. There is no comparison. It's worth the investment and looks great on my countertop bamboo aeropress stand.
