Review on ๐Ÿ”ง LAUNCH CRP123 OBD2 Scanner: Advanced Engine/ABS/SRS/Transmission Car Diagnostic Tool with Lifetime Free Updates by Cody Wuol

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works for Subarus. I'm writing this to add help on upgrading a PC.

I would give 5 stars here if the registration/update worked well. But that's not the case. I chose this unit because I drive a Subaru Outback and don't want to be limited to generic codes. I like this CR. It is intuitive to use and will do much more than I currently realize. The car power cord isn't long enough to reach the engine bay, if that matters. It was easy to plug in and read Subaru specific stuff, so I made the right choice. It relies on external power, no batteries. It comes with a USB cable to connect to a PC and a Micro SD/USB card reader for updates. Out of the box you will be prompted to remove the installed micro SD memory card. You plug it into the included USB card reader and connect it to your computer to register and update. You need to enter the URL manually to download the program for your PC or Android. The website has changed and does not correspond to the attached instructions. The PC Updater option provides an application called CRP229UpdatedSetup.exe. It downloads fine but doesn't install on my Windows 10 system. It's frustrating. There is one more spot on the webpage that is clickable, but mostly obscured by an ad banner (see my picture). I could only see the bottom 2/3 of the word "Load Tool". I clicked on it and it worked. It provides a ZIP folder named LaunchDIY_Update_Setup.zip which contains DIY_Update_Setup.exe. He successfully installed an app called LaunchDIY_Update. After updating the micro SD, reinstall it and then use the USB cable to connect the CR to your computer. It turns on and receives updated data for dozens of car manufacturers from a micro SD card. After that it is ready for use.
