I won’t say that the game seems incomplete without special stages (as they often write on the same Reddit), but Valhalla really adds interesting mechanics. On the one hand, it levels the randomness (which added peppercorns in vanilla), but on the other hand, there is now more subtle planning of where to send your Vikings and whom to sacrifice. I really liked that with the additional game the game becomes longer, due to which you can easily scale it depending on the current mood. In general, if you like vanilla - be sure to buy extra, it will only make the game better. Upon receipt, check the number of worker figurines, as a common problem is that they are not enough (this problem is also relevant for the base)
