Let me start by telling you that while I was on the hunt for one I didn't know anything about this particular item beforehand. Unfortunately this is not one of them. The booster was installed on the 2nd floor...an open landing area just above the router. The router also stands on a table that is in an open area. Its purpose was to extend the signal to my bedroom by about 7-10 feet. Although my signal wasn't the best before installing it, the signal loss was negligible... but it's enough to warrant buying an amplifier. After installation, the signal loss was much greater. Separated, moved to two other outlets in the same area... no change. No, I didn't call tech support because the install took seconds because of my router's sync button, and every time it set up...connection! With all the positive feedback... maybe I just got a broken one! return.
