About 10 months in use. I don't sort them quickly, so each could be washed once or twice a month and as many as 3 fall apart. "Collapsing" means a flared side, like the bottom of an old pair of jeans with a torn seam and exposed laces and loops. The fabric is quite thin; not in the same league as the 10-15 year old towels I replaced. Considering they cost about $1.58 per towel and I bought a replacement for them last week from an unnamed stock members-only club for about half the price - $0.80 per towel and they were thicker and quality looked higher quality, I have to advise against this particular purchase.
