ALWAYS update the firmware and then update it a few more times. Mine took two refreshes to get to the Updates screen. The instructions say to connect to phone wifi etc. Don't do any of that, just plug it in and scan the QR code, open the URL in Safari and click refresh. super easy. Works great and the only lag I see is swiping between screens in CarPlay. It could be my (very old) Pioneer stereo. I did not attempt to call or receive. Start time is normal. You should never pull out of a parked car anyway, so the time I spend idling my car is just the right amount of time to launch CarPlay. and it is fully automatic. Inside the packaging looked like it had been used and put back in place, but the outer plastic and box were intact and the unit is very clean. It's very small, hid it in the glove box.
