Installed in 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor with Sync3 update. First, let's say that the overall look and packaging is on point. If my USB port was in sight it wouldn't be a pain in the eyes. ALWAYS update the firmware and then update it a few more times. Mine took two refreshes to get to the Updates screen. The instructions say to connect to phone wifi etc. Don't do any of that, just plug it in and scan the QR code, open the URL in Safari and click refresh. super easy. This item meets my needs well. I had trouble using CarPlay with a Lightning cable. CarPlay connected to my phone. However, the first swipe or twist disconnected the phone from CarPlay. I bought an aftermarket Pioneer H/U version in my 2015 Silverado. It's garbage. Much more of a headache than just connecting a Lightning USB cable. Every time I use Maps or try to send a text message with Siri, it turns off. If I just listen to music it's not that bad, it will still drop out but not as much. The bottom line is this device works as promised with my Kenwood 7704S aftermarket devices and pretty much gives the same CarPlay experience, with Exception for wireless connection. As for the issues raised by others: In my configuration, I don't see anything odd about the device getting confused and having to be unplugged and plugged back in after car power cycle - the lag comes in two forms.
