Review on Professional-Grade Finishing πŸ”ͺ Sharpening Tool: Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpening by Montez Vazquez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great addition to a Spyderco Sharpmaker system

PROS: - Aggressive diamond cutting edges quickly reprofile blades - Effective with even the toughest tool and powder steels CONS: - Slightly larger than standard blades which stretches the plastic base plate and creates excess play when using standard sharpening sticks - Can damage knives if used incorrectly as I am having trouble sharpening my Spyderco Sharpmaker. These diamond rods allowed me to quickly reuse my dull blades and use Sharpmaker to sharpen them to a razor sharp edge. I would give this product 5 stars, however the base of the rods are slightly larger than the standard rods (ie those supplied with the Sharpmaker system) which stretches the holes in the plastic base and creates excess play when using the standard rods. This makes it harder for me to sharpen, but I'm figuring out how to hold my knives while sharpening to compensate for the slightly different angle. All in all a great product for using the Sharpmaker with imperfect knives. UPDATE: If you put a drop of dish soap on the base of the sticks you can insert them into the Sharpmaker without damaging it. I wish I had known that before the initial install.
