I needed a small, lightweight stand to hold my smartphone while hiking, camping, family gatherings, etc. I have a standard camera tripod which is solid and provides a good solid platform for the camera but it is large and unwieldy. I came across this tripod/selfie stick and it had all the features I was looking for. When fully extended and with the foldable stand attached, it measures just under 4 feet long. When fully folded and the legs removed it is about 14 inches long. It has a ball mount at the end that allows the mounting platform to rotate 360 degrees horizontally and fold 90 degrees vertically. My main concern was durability, and the tripod is very solid and made from strong (but light) aluminum. I needed a sturdy stand to take good photos (no blurry photos due to the unstable stand) and this item includes a sturdy, well-made tripod stand that can be detached for storage. It comes with the typical expandable cradle that holds most smartphones (it was tight, but I was able to fit my iPhone 6 plus in the thick Otter case). Only giving 4 stars because I would have preferred a more elaborate ball mount, perhaps with a short adjustment lever for the bladder gauge and some marks to set the camera relatively level rather than facing it, but at the price of a ball mount. comes with does the job.
