I had the first generation and like others it had a tendency to accidentally turn on when in a pocket, bag or whatever. This iteration solved that problem. I use it for my hikes/hunting as the main fire source and main light. Although I have a brighter headlamp, when more light is needed, it's enough to carry around in my bag or do basic tasks. The battery never needed to be charged in 8 days of travel. Like a plasma lighter, the solution is a lot better than the old-fashioned method. I had too many Bics and other lighters. While you should always have a backup, which I still carry around with me, I haven't had to use it since I bought it. Can't go wrong and no durability issues so far.
