UPDATE 11/2022: As long as one is careful not to squeeze the cable plugged into the back of the monitor, it works quite stably. After you plug USB-C into your Mac, it's important to wait for the "connected" sound, find the battery icon to see the charging flash, and only then close the laptop to put it into clamshell mode offset. If you cannot see the charging flash, the monitor screen turns off when you close the laptop. __________________________ I bought this monitor to work with my M1 Macbook in clamshell mode and it requires laptop power. The monitor port must provide power to the Mac. To be clear, if the MacBook doesn't get power when it's closed, the monitor will go blank. As many other reviews have pointed out, something is wrong with the USB-C hub input. It works about 50% of the time with no rhyme or reason. You hear a connecting tone, then it disconnects, then connects, then disconnects. Judging by other reviews, there is no point in replacing the monitor, since the replacement will have the same problem. I was past my return deadline when I realized this was happening. Lesson Learned: When you buy electronics, use them to their full potential right away to ensure they perform over the long term. Other cons: (1) it's so bright that I can only use it at very low brightness levels (and I use Flux to dim the screen in low light); (2) You need to set all the parameters manually using the button below the screen. For example, the brightness buttons don't work on your Mac.
