I bought this camera for my wife last summer. We have a large wooded backyard and, like many others, have spent a lot of time at home. I have an old pair of 7x35 binoculars that she doesn't like. I think it's a bit stressful for bird watching. I got her this pair. Pentax Papillo works very well. Simple, light, very easy to use. Excellent body and eyepiece caps attach neatly to the neck strap. I set it up for her vision and I don't touch her. Work in the afternoon and into the early evening. Weak light also works excellently with small optics. Mosquitoes chase you before it gets dark. I tried using them for a Jupiter/Saturn event at Christmas and unsurprisingly they were useless. The close-up macro focusing is really handy. It's really fun for everyone. A great way to get people interested in birds/butterflies/insects or just to take a walk outside. The wide field of view makes it easier to find an object in the forest. Doesn't bother the new user and makes it comfortable. I can't wait to go on a trip for many years. That's all you really need unless you're a serious bird freak. If so, you still won't go below 7X.
