Review on πŸ”§ Dremel 4486 Keyless Chuck: Ideal for 1/32” to 1/8” Shank Rotary Tool Accessories, Silver by Rich Ferguson

Not what I was hoping for. Not exactly.

I bought one of these. And in my last job (medical tech) we used them on almost every Dremel except mine. I've used so many when each of them had a pretty bad heartbeat. The collet is a much better method of holding and true axial centerline rotation. For this reason, all large milling machines use collet systems. You pay over $100 for a good cartridge (Albrecht) that works fairly accurately. side of the cut surface, leaving a bare spot. And that is a direct route to disaster. One thing that I noticed from all the chatter is that the bits and shanks vibrate pretty quickly and the bit can fly in your face. Not all ammo is created equal. I had 2 Dremels at home, 3 at work: a Gessewein microfored and a larger fored with a 3-jaw chuck. The micromotor was absolutely concentric. Foredom, who I believe used a Jacobs micro-chuck, came pretty close. And now I have a Foredom at home too, and I think I'm really lucky. So far it appears to be extremely axially concentric. Also, these three-jaw chucks are MUCH more secure when tightened with a real wrench. That said, I'm REALLY looking forward to the 5/32 1/8 1/4" quick-change collet handle. In summary, I'll only use them for smaller parts like rocks if you get one of these. for use with cutting discs and i have actually tried and they come loose very quickly due to torque and cracking/side impact.
