Review on πŸ”οΈ Enhance ATV Performance with the WARN 84600 ProVantage Electric Plow Lift in Sleek Black Finish by Darnell Evans

Revainrating 1 out of 5

ATTENTION! The upper seal is not waterproof!

I had surgeries on both shoulders so manual lifting was never an option. I bought a hoist to prevent my more expensive Warn winch motor ($400) from burning out due to overheating from repeated short up and down strokes and damage to the winch cable ($50) from repeated pull/slack cycles. I left the plow/lift under the trees in the backyard over the summer and the motor was "flooded" by rainwater and shorted out! WARNING: The seal from the aluminum shaft to the black hoist housing is NOT waterproof! In my case, raindrops hitting the aluminum lifter shaft flowed down the piston to the black lifter housing and seeped through the gasket and into the engine. Back in November, when I hitched the plow to the quad, I hit the "lift" button and nothing happened. I removed the lift motor from the plow and when I turned it upside down rusty water came out of the seal. When the device caught fire, a fuse on the tube also blew. Luckily it was still under warranty. I had to box it up and pay about $25 to send it to Warn's warranty department for inspection. About (12) days later I was sent a new elevator motor. I am very happy with their guarantee. When I remove the plow this year, I also remove the lift motor and store it on a shelf in the garage to prevent the problem from reoccurring. Otherwise, make sure it is covered with a waterproof barrier to prevent the motor from shorting out. Separate note: The switch was wired "backwards"; So pressing the "DOWN" switch actually moves the lift piston down, which in turn raises the plow, while "UP" actually pushes the lift piston, which in turn lowers the plow. I checked that the wiring was installed exactly as the instructions say. It's frustrating, but currently it's not worth removing and rewiring ATV body panels to flip a derailleur. I will eventually rewire when I have nothing else to do with my time.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Was damaged
