I've been using this grater since I was a little boy (I'm 67) until my last one rusted a few years ago. They were all steel and were made between the turn of the century and World War II. Read all reviews before purchasing. I paid particular attention to 2 negative reviews from the same couple. When I received my grater I checked it out. Here are my results compared to pre-war graters.* While reasonable in physical size, it is much narrower, making it a bit more difficult to handle.* Although the wires are sharp, they would be sharper and easier to use if the wires were were thinner. Overall this is the best grater available and I would recommend it. For best results, use it as follows: * Place the steel bowl in the far left corner (right side for left-handers) of the sink. * If you have a non-slip rubber pad, put it under the bowl. * Position the grater at a 45-foot angle to the top edges of the bowl.
