After 2 years and 2 months this fan stopped working. I tested the solar panel and it offers full integrity for all 20VDC wiring and is perfect. However, the fan motor tried to start but just couldn't. This is a sealed unit, so there is no chance of repair. I will try to find a replacement motor. I paid $195. including shipping of this fan and 70 watt panel. Now it's $269. and if 2 years is typical then I wouldn't buy another. At the same time, the system worked flawlessly during its existence. The fan blade size is only 8 inches, so I had my doubts about the CFM requirements. As soon as it worked, my doubts disappeared. He was powerful, fast and loud. The bladeless motor runs silently. Once was installed with an enlarged housing (14 inches). Most of the air circulated around the shroud rather than through the screen at the vent gable, so I added a 9 inch starting collar to the center fan shroud, extending naturally within 1/4 inch of the screen. Viola, full airflow through the vent. Manufacturer's Note: Larger fan or smaller cover. One final note: I didn't install a switch or thermostat on this system so it worked even in the colder months. The thermostat could prolong the life of the engine. If I find a motor that lasts longer I will update this review. If you want to buy now I'm only 1 buyer so read lots of reviews. There were no reviews when I bought it. Update: I bought another fan and now it's working again. During the purchase I noticed a fan that was very similar to a car radiator fan and cost about $70. So I searched for radiator fans and found the same fan for around $25 and many others for up to $45. I went with the $34 16 inch fan and am very glad I did. This fan is quiet and moves more air than the original. The motor is exactly the same style, size and shape as the original and is rated up to 120 amps which is perfect for my 70 amp panel. If you have a 35-50 amp panel you should use a 14 inch fan. 16" Heavy Duty Radiator Fan Black Electric 2000cc ) Plastic body easily attaches to standard gable frame, 4 bolts with no carpentry, no tunnel required. The motor is reversible as is the fan blade and this is very important as the efficiency drops when the blade moves very slightly backwards again. There is 1 lock nut on the blade which I removed with a crescent wrench, flipped the blade over and put the nut back on. You then simply swap the + and - wires when installing on an existing solar panel. I am not changing my rating. I would like the seller to answer me, then I would see it differently. Not that I want a refund, but offering a discount on a new motor would be good customer service. I want another fan for the other side of my attic. I will order the panel and fan separately here at Revain and save a lot of money.
