When I bought my first Ridgid R2401 laminate cutter, I decided to try the less expensive router bits (ryobi). It almost put me off routing as there were a lot of breaks with these bits etc. What do you expect from a $50 21 bit set? Then I bought a larger router, Hitachi KM12VC 11 amp, 2-1/4 hp and fixed variable speed router kit with 1/4" and 1/2" collets, bought a Freud router with 1/2" " Shank and made one last try. I was just amazed at how much better I got with Freud. So I ordered the rest of the 4 1/2" bits from this site since they were on sale for $10 each. I thought I'd also get some Freud 1/4" shank bits for my little router as they are nice to work with and a lot easier. You may have to do a few more passes but this is one great little router.I then got into jigs and jig making and decided to buy this bit to test them out on a jig (press rod) I made.I used my jigsaw and got as close to it as I could and then used this attachment to follow the pattern. The bearing is on the template no and the bit is ready. Works just as well as a large shank bit. I mean you don't even have to sand the edges, they work that well. I would advise anyone to spend a few bucks more and get some beats that you will be using all the time. Get a straight smooth finish, curves, patterns and possibly bevels. You will not be disappointed and many patterns can be made from these few.
