could not get a good seal

I used this on the bottom of a 119 gallon pressurized water tank and used Teflon tape the first time. It leaked. Drained the tank and flipped it used pipe dope. It still leaked. Drained the tank and flipped it used both Teflon tape and pipe dope. It still leaked. Finally went out and bought a PVC bushing to replace it worked the first time.
