Review on Dorman 911-099 Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid for Chevrolet and GMC Models - Enhance Engine Searchability by Nate Nelson

I knew there was a problem when the factory installed remote start didn't work and the check engine light came on. I had it diagnosed at the auto shop next door and they told me the problem was engine code P0449 (it cost $40 instead of taking it to a GM dealership and paying $99). I bought this part because it looked like the new ACDelco 23103351 which the answer on the ACDelco 23103351 list says should be better and last longer than the old model but comes with a wiring harness so will save some money. Hope it works too. Such as: extra wiring harness, hoses and spring clamps, easy to install. After removing the old part with hoses I heated the ends of the hose to the filter that goes next to the gearbox and removed the old filter and canister. Purge Solenoid and Fitted New Filter and Canister Purge Solenoid; The diameter of the short hose adapter seemed larger than that of the long filter hose, so I added a smaller diameter rubber hose around the filter hose and the canister vent's magnet connector, and then added a hose adapter with spring clips. The hose to the vapor canister (original equipment ACDelco 215-407 GM vapor canister) was removed by cutting the hose extension on the old canister vent solenoid and then attaching it to the replacement with a hose adapter and clamp. All parts have been connected. I then added a pigtail extension for the electrical connection. After completely replacing the canister vent solenoid, hoses, and electrical pigtail, I reinstalled the entire part; disconnected the battery cable to restart the computer and the old engine light went out and the remote start now works! I gave it 4 stars because I really don't know how long this new design will last.
