I had about 4 different types of secateurs for different types of bushes, plants, trees and everything. Some are dull, some are rusty, all need attention so I bought these, oiled them, haven't used a stone since my grandfather showed them to me years ago as a kid, but after a short time they were all free running, sharp as it is could be, and I tested it by taking out 25 foot hedges from rows about 10 feet high which were well used by the pruner to reduce all the branches to the size of a bag. Then I appreciated this stone. There are many diagrams on the web showing proper usage, which is really easy and pretty relaxing.
