I got this to help me move some heavy wood desks and a couch around more easily. The lifter makes it much easier to get the furniture up and onto the dollies and the dollies themselves are plenty sturdy. The dollies themselves are built similarly to the ones you frequently see for moving pianos, but these are much smaller. The downside is that the wheels on the dollies are a fairly hard plastic and not very big, so they don't move as easily on carpet and might mark wood floors. Something like rubber or skateboard wheels would be much better. Also I don't know how well these wheels would hold up on concrete or other rough surfaces so if you're thinking of using it to move stuff across a parking lot and up a ramp into a moving van, think again. These really aren't built for that. Also the small wheels may have trouble going over any bumps or moldings you might have where your floor changes from hard to carpet.Overall I've found that slick plastic "furniture mover" pads work just as good on carpet and the ones with felt bottoms work good on hard floors. Dollies with wheels work better for heavier loads or where you are moving over several different surfaces. Regardless of what you use, the "lifter" in this kit is handy for getting furniture up onto the dollies.
