I wanted to get my 9 year old child a really good football. He's tough, likes to play tough and loves the game. I bought the junior size and it looks great. The ball is hard. Leather is processed, probably in the factory. But it's hard to fathom. The ball is a bit slippery. Don't think of a ball like a soft leather baseball glove. It has a hard texture and will be difficult to grab. THIS IS A BIG BALL. Buy a leather conditioner from Wilson to take care of the ball. I also bought a sticky spray that makes all the difference. First I treated the ball with conditioner, let it dry and then applied Velcro spray. Each bottle costs an additional $15. yes expensive But if all you care about is price, go for a rubber ball. Plastic balls are easier to care for. The skin becomes more beautiful over time, but requires some care. Think of it like your car seats.
