Flexible plastic so it doesn't break when you try to reattach the top. It came with a broken latch, so it was even harder to keep the top from slipping off while I was trying to close the other latches. The clasps are molded as part of the top so they are sure to break due to the stress of opening and closing. The only advantage is its small size, which makes it easy to keep it pressed in the fridge if/when you manage to close it. Pay close attention to Revain, there are up to a dozen units with the same poor design/engineering, and likely some of them are just different brand names. I sent mine back two days later.
