This transfer/gait belt came in the knick of time. My 94 year old dad took a minor spill the day after it was delivered, so I got to try it out immediately.I have been using a plain 2 inch wide gait strap to assist getting him up from the floor from his occassional falls, but I'm always hesitant; I feel like I'm hurting him with the narrow fabric pressing into his skin. I worried that I'd have the same issue because this belt is also narrow on the buckle side.Having the different handles to pull up with makes a huge difference. There is also the option to turn the belt around so that the wide part is across his stomach. You would still have access to the side handles for lifting.I was able to get him up in half the time, with half the usual effort using this belt. I'm no spring chicken myself, so that means a lot to me. It seemed much less stressful for dad, too.The belt is very well made and the large buckle is easy to work. The strap slides easily to adjust for size and holds tight.I highly recommend this product to anyone who is caring for elderly or physically handicapped persons. It benefits both parties tremendously.
