My car seems to have problems with the radio and the drivers side speakers often don't work. But it worked flawlessly from the start so it gave me hope for this product. HOWEVER, as soon as my speakers started giving out, I bought another adapter and realized the quality flaws of this one. I bought $5 from my local big chain store and the difference is weird. The $5 model seems cheaper and has a much thinner cord that can easily snap even with a slight tug, so it doesn't feel like a reliable product. At the same time, despite the fact that this seemed to be better made, it worked worse. I tested them with volume balanced and then tested them completely on the "dead" side with balance. The cheap adapter gave me the best boost in terms of sound level and quality. This one wasn't quite up to par, and when the scales were placed on the driver's side it was almost completely silent and of very poor quality (again, when I tested another one at the same time, it worked much better). I am sure that many people will not hear the loss of quality, especially with working sound systems. But the fact that I could find a better alternative at half the price is what really let me down with this item. Try a different brand.
