I may or never will use cam tools again but buying them and having them on hand when I need them was definitely worth the price. Used them on a Rover with a 4.4 liter BMW engine. Replacing the timing chain at a reputable shop would probably have made up for the cost of the truck. Two tips: 1) I loosened the screw holding the cam locking blocks together and then tightened it to the ends of the cams after installation - the instructions didn't mention this, but you'll save yourself 30 minutes trying to do it without them to install. 2) You should NOT use a flexplate/TDC pin to hold the engine while removing the crankshaft with the damper/pulley bolt. only works with Rover/X5 configuration.
