Great Feeder Mostly

Update: The old single feeder I left for the PhD squirrels is now left unattended as they decided they prefer the double feeder can prop their hind legs on one and use their little mittens on the front to hold the pouch and chew it to get all the food out. On the rare occasions when birds get new socks sooner than the aforementioned doctor squirrels, I've noticed that they both need stuffing. Once the squirrel hits the blank page, it will lose its balance. This makes it heavy on one side and tilts, but can also turn in light winds, which in turn scares the birds, not the hawk looking at them, but the rotating birdhouse. I'll just keep buying socks for him. Well, first we had a RED ALERT bird! SOMETHING NEW AT THE FARM! This prevented her from approaching him for about an hour. However they don't seem to be bothered by hawks and crows/blackbirds whatever they are but they are about the size of a cocker spaniel but no they go crazy over anything new in the garden, and run for their lives. A few brave finches use it while many watch them from the trees I think, waiting to see if the new feeder kills their feathered brethren. It contains a lot of thistles, but I never fill them all because I don't want the food to go bad when it gets wet from the rain. The only downside is these little squirrels I have that can even pick apart a $100 feeder. They just tear her to pieces no matter how hard I try. Now I put this new one in the middle of the yard so they have nothing to push themselves off of. Just take a look. Like the single feeder, the wire hanger is too long, so I just wrap it around to make it shorter. Here in Colorado the weather is very nice, with snow and temperatures well below freezing. I hope this stops fighting and pushes each other away from the only one I left for the doctor squirrels to keep them away from this new one. We'll see again.

Pros
  • Kaytee Finch Stations make baiting and feeding birds easier than ever! Finches do not need complex feeding stations. Instead they like to cling to soft mesh sock feeders, preferring them to traditional tube feeders
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
