Review on Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Open Studio Headphones - High-Quality Sound for Professionals by Yusri ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Matches the description completely, very satisfied.

Excellent headphones for working professionally with audio as well as listening to music. If someone tells you that they are not meant for music, they are lying to you. The 880 Pro, on the other hand, possesses a frequency range that is more musical than it is professional. It's not necessary to be afraid of 250 ohms because any regular Hi-Fi amplifier can handle them. However, you should avoid connecting directly to a computer or phone because this consumes frequencies and results in a quieter sound. The design is flawless and non-lethal; the only components that are not made of metal are the small plastic spacers, which can be easily replaced with metal fasteners even if they burst after three to five years. The cable cannot be removed, which is a disappointing design decision; in the event that it breaks, you will need to replace it by cutting it and soldering it, but there are no additional contacts that deteriorate over time. I tried hundreds of different headphones on different amplifiers in the store, and this is by far the best option for up to 20,000 dollars. I'm as ecstatic as an elephant after going swimming after purchasing a deal that gave me a thirty percent discount on the cost of fourteen thousand. Sound quality, dependability, longevity, and ease of maintenance were really essential considerations for me, despite the fact that I didn't really look at the price tag. Shenheisers (pop and advertising, but the expensive 600 and 650 models were good) and ACG (the latter, in my opinion, greatly embellished the low frequencies) play just as well, but the plastic case evokes a sad memory of the breakdown of the previous two sets. Shenheisers (pop and advertising, but the expensive 600 and 650 models were good). After three years, the ear snapped off in one of them, while the rim split in half in the other one. An attempt to glue caused the neighboring plastic to crack when it was applied. Because of this, plastic models were shelved out of fear that in three years they would become obsolete once more.

Pros
  • Incredible fidelity in the musical tone! Extremely reliable design.
Cons
  • Wire that is not detachable. (however one may argue that this has some benefits for certain people) Impedance 250 Ohm! (do not listen straight from a computer or portable device; instead, listen entirely through an amp; nonetheless, the sound in these headphones is much cleaner than the sound in low-resistance ones, so it's difficult to call it a con.)
