This is a bit unreliable, but great for small engines. The biggest I've used it on was an International 7.3 IDI diesel (about 70 pounds valve spring). That being said, the tool's C-frame flexed outward a bit (didn't remain flexed after removal) and didn't want to compress the spring straight down, but it was enough to pull the latches out and it did more than I expected would have. . My advice is to take a thick hardened washer and put it between the 'built-in pusher' and the 'extension screw' as under heavy pressure the end of the screw will try to screw into the pusher as it is Not hardened steel is the only reason I give this tool 4 stars, not 5. I would recommend this tool for use on any small engine and any gas engine with less than 60 pounds of valve springs.
