These are my second 8 inch Fiskars scissors. My first pair were still going strong after 50+ years until my (now ex) boyfriend decided to use them to cut electrical wire. (The destruction of my favorite Fiskars scissors wasn't the only reason for the split.) I've used these scissors for sewing and paper crafting. My previous shears were in good condition and had never been mis-sharpened and they were still sharp! The new pair (which I've been using for over a year) appear to be of the same solid construction as the original pair The hinges are firm and it's easy to get a precise cut on fabric, paper, and for kitchen use slicing bags and chopping herbs . It is very pleasant to buy a product whose quality has not suffered. The only thing I would like to note is that these scissors are not a good choice for cutting heavy fabric or cardboard. cardboard, use a utility knife. To cut the wire use LOL wire cutters.
