Review on πŸ’» ZOTAC Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB GDDR6 192-Bit Super Compact Graphics Card - Ultimate Gaming Performance with ZT-T16610F-10L by George Evans

nVidia made a good chip, but Zotac went for a lousy fan

Performance-wise I'm quite happy with the card. I wanted to upgrade my old nVidia 760 so I can play 4k resolution games on medium/high settings with a 4k TV which is good for a PC monitor (4:4:4 support and low latency is the Key). However, after about a year of daily use, the Zotac GTX 1060's fan began to malfunction, causing frequent temperature fluctuations and leading to a very serious drop in performance. Things got worse to the point where the GPU was only running 50% of the time or less. Since I didn't want to buy a new GPU, I installed a custom cooler from ARCTIC instead. I've never done this before, but after watching a few YouTube videos I felt reasonably comfortable and bit the bullet and gave it a try. The custom cooler now works great, and the card performs even better than with the stock fan, both in terms of temperature and performance under heavy loads. I definitely have a positive opinion of nVidia's GTX 1060 6GB GPU, but I wouldn't recommend this particular card from Zotac. The fan is an absolutely critical component and in my opinion ZOTAC either picked a very cheap one to maximize profits or just didn't do proper quality control to determine that they have poor durability.
