At first I didn't think it really did anything, but when it was unplugged from the wall for hours to charge, the smell was overpowering. This really affects the strength of the smell of the litter. There is no fresh smell but the room doesn't smell that bad. Only criticism is that the charge doesn't last long. After 3-4 he died, straining half a day. But overall I am satisfied with this product which helps keep my house from odors.
