I baked a lot of Christmas cookies this year - I chose this model because of the number of slices. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that 10 discs are just numbers from 1 to 10 (for cake decorating I think). Anyway, I was making my 5th or 7th batch of Christmas cookies (3rd use of the device) and the keg cracked! Here's what I think happened: maybe I overloaded the keg and the batter stretched. I've refrigerated the loaded press between batches while each batch was baking and it's possible for the batter to expand in the fully filled barrel - the barrel has cracked. First, Cuisinart said I would have to pay to ship the broken one and postage for a replacement. What is the "lifetime warranty" like? I complained and Cuisinart just sent me a new unit. So in the end it turned out great, except that the barrel is made of plastic that is too thin in my opinion. Just don't overload the keg or let the batter sit in it when you do this!
