With the cable companies moving to dual band 2.4/5GHz, I figured it was time to upgrade my Wi-Fi adapter to meet these demands. The previous adapter I had was also USB 2.0 only. That being said, I had high hopes for this Cudy adapter. I was grateful that the general completeness of the product (installation, additional convenient program for connecting to a local network, a place to download the driver) was impeccable. However, for a USB 3.0 adapter at this price point (of which I've used many in my work environment), I was hoping for more range. A month later, Microsoft will release its cumulative update for Windows 10 on January 5, 2021. Thanks to this update, several hours of troubleshooting over the last two days and then the discovery of an updated Cudy 2020 driver for this product combined with a Windows update makes the entire adapter untraceable, not to mention that the Windows update has certain limitations Proxy situations website (which Cady uses, boy was it just a struggle to finish the driver download before it was marked 'banned') I've come to two conclusions about this product: 1. For the price there should be constant, vigilantly updated driver support on their website to match any system updates, as well as the shared file share link in Revain's description. There should also be a secure web link to download these drivers so people don't have to contend with Proxy2 issues. Overall, the product is probably better suited for laptops and hotspots or desktops/TVs that are within 10 feet of the router (I'm in the next room down the hall, but that's still no more than 15 feet). With cable companies offering 2-in-1 gateways with a forced automatic dual-band connect feature, most people want to be close enough to stay on the fastest (not the most reliable) signal. That's why you need an adapter that's responsive, reliable, and strong enough to keep you from switching to a lower frequency signal. In summary, I would probably recommend this product to someone who needs an adapter to get around. decent connection or mobile user. But not for those who intend to constantly update the system or in a business environment where reliability is a key factor. It's a solid product at a decent price, but I feel like there could be a few better options.
